Ogihara Manufacturing Facility

The facility was constructed on a 100-acre site in a geological area that contains carbonate rock and highly plastic clays. Soil borings revealed that the depth of rock varied from 5 to 25 feet. The condition of the rock would dictate the design and cost of the press foundations. The press foundations had to be constructed in a pit that measured 200 feet wide by 300 feet long and 26 feet below the ground surface. Subsurface conditions in the 60,000 square foot pit area were mapped in two days using magnetic conductivity. The geophysical data was supplemented with air-percussion boring at selected locations. BHATE also conducted quality control testing during the construction phase of the project.
