This facility, consist of a 175,000 sq ft building and is situated on a 74-acre tract next to Cullman Industrial Park . The building houses office and production space, and contains a basement, approximately 20 feet in depth, in the northeast portion of the building. The site is in an area underlain by the Pottsville Formation, which consists of alternating beds of sandstone and shale with clay. Differential weathering of the rock often creates resistant sandstone beds underlain by shale beds, which have been weathered to a clay-like consistency. Sandstone beds often form outcrops and ridges. BHATE’s earthwork and foundation recommendations were able to accommodate the structural requirements. (Photo courtesy of Gresham Smith & Partners)
